MyDog Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 23, 2026
MyDog (“we”, “our”, “the app”) helps dog owners track walks, care plans, and community place ratings. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account: email address and authentication identifiers when you sign in (email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Google).
- Dog profiles: name, breed, photos, health and care notes you enter.
- Walk data: GPS routes, duration, distance, and optional poop markers during walks you start.
- Community content: star ratings, text reviews, and optional photos for places on the map. Public profile fields (display name, comfort level / XP, achievements, Pro badge) may be visible to other signed-in users.
- Purchases: if you subscribe to MyDog Pro, Apple processes the payment. We receive a subscription status (active or not, product, expiration / renewal) through RevenueCat so the app can unlock Pro features. We do not see your full card number.
- Device & usage: app settings (units, notifications), achievement progress, and crash diagnostics.
- Location: while you use the map and during an active walk, including in the background when a walk is recording. We do not track you when no walk is running.
How we use information
- Provide and sync your data across devices when signed in.
- Show your position on the map and record walks.
- Display community ratings, reviews, and leaderboards.
- Unlock and restore MyDog Pro after a purchase or restore.
- Send optional reminders and walk notifications you enable.
- Diagnose crashes so we can fix bugs.
Where data is stored
- On your device (offline cache). Some items, such as reminders and weight history, stay on the device only.
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Storage when you have an account. Crashlytics for crash reports. App Check to reduce abuse of our backend.
- Apple: MapKit for maps and place search on your device. Sign in with Apple if you choose that sign-in. App Store / StoreKit for MyDog Pro subscriptions.
- RevenueCat: subscription status tied to your app user id, so Pro works after reinstall or a new phone.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use Google Maps or Google Places.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers needed to run the app: Firebase/Google (auth, database, storage, crash diagnostics, App Check), Apple (maps, Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases), and RevenueCat (subscription status). Community reviews and public profile fields may be visible to other users. We do not share live location with other users.
MyDog Pro
MyDog Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription sold through the App Store. Apple bills you. You can cancel or change the plan in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions, or from My Plan in the app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Deleting your MyDog account removes our copy of your cloud data; Apple may still show the subscription until you cancel it with Apple.
Your choices
- Use the app without signing in (local-only mode; cloud sync and community features require an account).
- Edit or delete dogs, walks, ratings, and reviews in the app.
- Delete your account in Settings → Delete account (removes cloud data tied to your account).
- Control location, camera, photos, and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- Manage or cancel MyDog Pro in Apple’s subscription settings.
Data retention
Local data is removed when you delete the app or use account deletion. Cloud data is deleted when you delete your account. Apple and our providers may keep backups or purchase records for a limited time under their policies.
Children
MyDog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
